Ornament Tales 2015 – Post #2
I’m back again this year with another ornament tales post. As I mentioned in last year’s post, I love to collect ornaments during my travels and special moments. Each year, it is so fun for me to look over each ornament as I hang it on the tree and flash back in my mind to the memories associated with each ornament.
Today’s ornament tales come from our honeymoon in 2010. We took a cruise to Mexico, visiting Cozumel, Merida, and Progreso.
This piñata is perfect for bringing back memories of our time together in Mexico every year when we hang it on the tree. And, of course, the Spanish teacher in me couldn’t resist a sweet little piñata!
I also found this sweet little reindeer. I’m not sure exactly what drew me to it, but he really, really wanted to journey to the States. I could just feel it. The ornaments are made out of that special Mexican style clay pottery. They are very delicate, and I was so happy when they actually made it all the way back home unharmed.
The honeymoon was the first time The Hubs or I had ever been on a cruise, and we had an immensely grand time.
We ate way too much at the fancy dinners every night.
The one activity we both agreed upon was ziplining. I wasn’t scared on the actual cables, but I was terrified climbing up the tall wooden tower. It seemed so rickity to me, and I just knew it was all going to fall down any second, taking us with it!
We had a great time touring Progreso, which is the port city in the state of Yucatan in the Gulf of Mexico. I bought my ornaments in the cute little store you see in the background of this photo. We did the zip-lining earlier in the same day which is why my hair looks so crazy!
During one of our afternoons on land, we went shopping in Merida. I loved the quaint little shops we found there. We toured the Governor’s Mansion and surrounding area in downtown Merida.
It was so cool visiting all of the artisan shops. This guy was making blankets, and I wanted to buy every one of those beauties that the shop sold!
Well, that was the trip down memory lane with my ornament tales 2015. I hope you enjoyed this year’s flashback! Merry Christmas to you all!
